C’EST LA VIE: August 2007

~The Tale Of The "Tailless Squirrel"~

~At the beginning of Summer we noticed there was a squirrel missing his tail running around the backyard trees and were quite amazed at how balanced he was without it!

~He would always come to eat the birdseed scraps under the feeder and drink from the bowl we have out there for the birds, never staying too long and often, if we turned away for a minute, he was gone!

~For several months he was the talk of the neighborhood and people would often ask "Have you seen the tailless squirrel lately?".

~One evening before a big storm was about to blow up, Denny and I caught sight of him out by the bird feeder. Luckily we had the camera out and snapped a picture of him just as he put his little front paws up on my duck statue!!

*It looks like he is giving the duck a kiss on the beak!! Haha!!*

~Sadly, we have not seen our tailless squirrel now for about a month and we fear the worst. He is often brought up in conversation with the neighbors but no one else has spotted him either.
I am happy though, that we got at least one picture to remember him by!

'Misty's Kids'

~During the summer Misty worked at the OSU Childcare Center as a teacher's aid and really enjoyed working with the children!

~They seemed to really enjoy her as well!! She made several new friends and enjoyed teaching, reading to and playing with them! I am sure she has made a good choice to become a teacher someday since it seems to be something she has a natural talent for!
